Hi, I’m Mike, I’ve been working with clay for many years now, and it’s safe to say it’s become more than just a obsession. I’m especially drawn to the alchemy of glazes and the textures that emerge through different firing methods. Most of what you’ll find here has been wheel thrown, often with hand built details, and finished with glazes I’ve developed myself through lots of trial, error, and curiosity. Everything you see comes out of my studio on the Kaipara Harbour, a quiet spot that gives me space to experiment, reflect, and just enjoy the process. In 2020 - 2021 I pulled back from galleries and wholesale and started to work more toward my art practice, in Feb 2025 with some other very talented artists we started MGTO Gallery a artist collective where I have regular exhibitions.
